A bold pitch invader, Daniel Jarvis, has found himself in hot water after a daring prank at the Ashes Test in Liverpool. This serial prankster, known for his creative stunts, managed to infiltrate the Australian rugby league team's lineup during the national anthem, creating a stir that has since gone viral.
But here's where it gets controversial: Jarvis, with his mischievous grin, slipped past security unnoticed, joining arms with the renowned Cameron Munster as the anthem played. Munster, initially unaware of the prank, only realized the identity of his unexpected companion when he recognized the infamous "Jarvo" from his extensive social media following.
"Some guy tried to squeeze between me and Pat [Carrigan], and I was like, 'No way.' Then he asked again, 'Can I stand next to you and hold on to you?' I said, 'Sure, go for it,'" Munster recalled after the game. It was only later that he realized the extent of the prank and the identity of the prankster.
"I thought he had some special access or an agreement with the team to join us for the anthem. But then I realized who it was. It's the guy who pulls these stunts regularly. It took me a while to process, but it was hilarious. He got me good!"
However, the fun didn't last long for Jarvis. Security guards, initially unaware of the prank's nature, aggressively apprehended him, and Jarvis soon found himself in police custody. Merseyside police confirmed the detention, stating, "The 37-year-old man from Gravesend, Kent, was detained after entering the pitch before the England v Australia rugby league match."
Jarvis, with a history of similar pranks at high-profile events like the Paris Olympics, a Test cricket match, and an England football game, was charged with disrupting a person engaged in a lawful activity. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Liverpool magistrates court on Monday.
Despite the distraction, Munster and the Kangaroos maintained their focus, with Munster scoring a try in Australia's 14-4 victory over England, securing the Ashes series win.
