PGA TOUR: Butterfield Bermuda Championship - The Ultimate Guide (2025)

The FedExCup Fall is reaching its climax, and the Butterfield Bermuda Championship is set to deliver an intense battle for the coveted TOUR card for 2026. But who will rise to the occasion and secure their spot? The pressure is on, and the stage is set for a thrilling showdown.

Adam Stanley brings us the latest from the PGA TOUR as the Butterfield Bermuda Championship takes center stage. The stakes are higher than ever, and the field is packed with golfers eager to make their mark.

Sahith Theegala, determined to salvage a challenging season, leads the way in Bermuda. But the defending champion, Rafael Campos, is back with a powerful story. Last year, Campos claimed victory just six days after becoming a father, and he's aiming to become the first consecutive winner in Bermuda. However, he's faced struggles recently, making only two cuts in his last 12 PGA TOUR events. Can he defy the odds and retain his title?

As the season nears its end, the top 100 cut-off looms large. Max McGreevy clings to the No. 100 spot, barely ahead of David Lipsky by 2.5 points. Kevin Yu, currently at No. 60, is within reach of securing his place in the first two Signature Events of 2026. He's joined in Bermuda by Rico Hoey (No. 58) and several others ranked 61-69, all striving for that big leap.

Michael Brennan, the Bank of Utah Championship winner and the highest-ranked golfer in the field at No. 40, is a force to be reckoned with. The Monday qualifier in October saw Samuel Anderson shine with a 10-under 62, earning medalist honors. Jake Peacock and Drew Doyle also qualified with impressive 9-under 63s, while Hunter Wolcott secured the final spot in a playoff against PGA TOUR winner Adam Long.

Behind the scenes, the drama unfolds...

Blades Brown, an 18-year-old rising star, will make his seventh PGA TOUR appearance this season. He's joined by celebrated amateur Tyler Watts, who made the cut at the Procore Championship and boasts an impressive amateur record. Local favorites Will Haddrell, Kenny Leseur, and Oliver Betschart will tee off alongside international talents Oscar Couilleau (France), Justin Hastings (Cayman Islands), and Chase Johnson (2024 Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption winner). Henry Smart and Andrew Zielinski complete the sponsor exemptions.

The Aon Next 10 initiative adds another layer of excitement. Players ranked 51-60 through the FedExCup Fall will secure spots in the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational. Garrick Higgo's T4 in Cabo propelled him to No. 52, almost assuring his place. But will others make a late surge to claim these coveted positions?

The Butterfield Bermuda Championship, the sixth event of the FedExCup Fall, carries 500 FedExCup points for the winner. Those ranked 51-70 at the start of the fall have already secured their top-100 eligibility for the following year but are vying for spots in the prestigious Signature Events. Meanwhile, golfers ranked 71 and beyond have a chance to earn one of the 10 available spots in those events and fight for a top-100 finish in the FedExCup standings.

As the FedExCup Fall concludes, those ranked 101-125 on the final Points List will have conditional status for the 2025 PGA TOUR Season.

Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda, will host the tournament. With a par 71 and 6,828 yards, it's shorter than most PGA TOUR courses but the longest on the island. The weather, as always, will play a significant role in the outcome.

Previous records at Port Royal include Brendon Todd and Camilo Villegas' 72-hole record of 260, and Taylor Pendrith, Alex Noren, and Wesley Bryan's 18-hole record of 61.

Last year, Rafael Campos scripted a fairytale ending. His wife's induced labor allowed Campos, ranked No. 147, to compete and ultimately secure his TOUR card. He shot a 3-under 68 in the final round, sealing a three-shot victory over Andrew Novak.

But here's where it gets controversial... Is the FedExCup Fall format fair to all players, or does it favor those with higher rankings? Share your thoughts in the comments below. Do you think the defending champ, Campos, can overcome his recent struggles and retain his title? Let us know what you think about this exciting tournament and the players' journeys!
