On a Sunday afternoon, the talented musicians of the Cadillac Area Symphony Orchestra will take center stage at the Cadillac High School Auditorium. Prepare for a global musical journey with a twist! The theme, 'The Grand Tour,' promises an exploration of diverse musical landscapes, from the heart of England to the vast steppes of Central Asia, and even a touch of the Big Apple's magic. But here's where it gets intriguing: after a well-deserved intermission, the orchestra will transport us to the festive spirit of the holiday season, with a very special guest appearance by none other than Santa Claus himself! And this is the part most people miss - Santa will be available for photos right after the performance, creating lasting memories for all.
The concert features two exceptional local vocalists. Amy Swanson, the choir director at Cadillac Area Public Schools, will belt out 'A Million Dreams' from The Greatest Showman, a song that will leave you breathless. Meanwhile, John Barry, a native of McBain, will serenade us with Gerald Finzi's 'Let Us Garlands Bring,' a romantic collection of Shakespearean sonnets set to the lush sounds of the orchestra's string section.
Before the concert and during the intermission, the CASO Board will host a silent auction, with a highlight being a stunning photograph by Eric VanHaitsma, generously donated by the artist himself. This photograph, capturing a snowy landscape with a buffalo in the foreground, has been beautifully matted and framed by Brinks Custom Framing.
The symphony board extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals and businesses who have contributed to this event through donations. The proceeds from the silent auction will support the orchestra's operations, including the use of school facilities for rehearsals and concerts, the acquisition of music, marketing efforts, and professional services such as conductor and librarian fees.
